About Margaret

I have always been an avid reader, loving the way one can escape into another world, lost in a page turning story of lives and loves. And so romantic fiction was my first choice when, after successes with short stories, I decided to write about my birthplace, the world-famous ‘Potteries’.

My debut novel, Ring of Clay won two literary prizes, and since then I have written six more sagas set against this rich industrial landscape, choosing the historical era of 1945 – 1970.  My more recent books have a more cosmopolitan setting and are set in the early twentieth century. Readers say that if you love ‘Downton’, then these are the ones for you. I hope you will enjoy whichever period you choose.

But I did have a life before becoming involved in the publishing world, spending many years as a Lecturer in Further Education, and was fortunate enough to own four marvellous dogs; three sable and white rough collies, and a west highland terrier. But not all at the same time!

And now I live in Eastbourne, where I’m currently writing my tenth novel. With frequent visits from my daughter, son, and two wonderful grandchildren, I feel very blessed.

I love to hear from my readers, so please get in touch if you would like to.
